Microdermabrasion is a unique process developed to exfoliate the epithelial layer of skin. Fine lines, skin discoloration, acne scars, and sun damaged skin show dramatic improvement with only six treatments. This is accomplished by using a high flow of corundum crystals, which is the second hardest mineral after diamonds, over the skins surface. The used crystals and dead cells are then vacuumed away.
The following skin conditioned conditions are treatable:
- Sundamaged skin
- Superficial pigmentation and age spots
- Oily/Acne prone skin Acne scarring
- Fine Wrinkles
- Neck, decollette' (Chest), hands and arm complexion
- Blackheads/whiteheads
- Enlarged Pores
- All Skin Types
The procedure generally takes between 10 & 15 minutes. Many of our patients have this done during their lunch hour. Thus the term 'lunch time peel.
There is only minimal discomfort in certain areas.
Your skin will appear slightly red or pink for a few hours afterwards and may feel slightly tighter. Microdermabrasion patients will experience minimal to no "down-time" therefore they can usually resume all normal activities. Occasionally patients experience some peeolin. Your skin will be delicate after treatment and should be well moisturized. You should take care to protect it from the sun by using moisturizing sunblock, and do not apply makeup for at least 24 hours after treatment. It is recommended that you do not receive other facial treatments such as chemical peels or laser resurfacing or skin care products containing glycolic and alphahydroxy ingredients for 48 hours.
Six treatments are the recommended. Most skin corrections can be accomplished with one series of treatments. These treatments can be spaced out no closer than between 7 & 10 days and not later than 3 weeks.
Your skin will have a more youthful, glowing appearance. The skin becomes firmer and the texture of the skin becomes smoother. Because microdermabrasion removes the layers of dead skin cells, your skin will experience a deeper exfoliation from other skin treatments and an increased nourishment from hydrating creams or facials. You actually are participating in controlling the aging process and appearance of your skin.
